Combine Cake *updated*

The combine cake was a success! It was much easier than I thought it would be. I made the tractor cake too, in chocolate.

People have left, and the house is quiet. It was a nice party. Smallish and with hot lasagna. Lots of leftovers, which is always wonderful. Bee was so incredibly pleased with everything. He took some time in his room alone if he got too overwhelmed, and he had so much fun playing with his new things that he forgot to eat his piece of cake. It's still sitting down there, and I might let him eat it for breakfast.

*Update* If you would like instructions for how to make the combine cake, I wrote a post. You can find it here: Cake directions

.

I love your combine cake. My almost 3 year old has requested one for his birthday coming up. I was wondering if you had any other views of the cake. I'd love to see what you did for the ladder and I'd love to know what you made the auger from. Would you mind sharing your secrets? If not, just email them to familyshopper@gmail.com. Thanks so much!

I live on a farm in the midwest with my husband and our 2 children - Jamison who will be 4 in 2 weeks and Lainey who is 3 months. Jamison loves the farm and all the equipment that comes with it. Last year I made him a tractor cake very similar to the one that you have pictured on your "combine cake" post. And this year, guess what kind of cake he wants...yes a combine cake!!! You have done a WONDERFUL job on the cake - very talented. If you don't mind sharing more pictures of different angles as well as your how to's on this awesome combine cake, I would really appreciate it. You can e-mail me at mmeyer@beckag.com - Thanks so much!! Melissa Meyer

Wow!! I love the combine cake!! Are you sharing your secrets??? If so, can you please email (elizphlipot@hotmail.com) me how you did it, or at least send me other pictures? My nephew Henry is having his 2nd birthday next week and he told his Mommy he wanted a combine cake. He loves combines and watches out the car windows looking for them in the fields, then he repeats "COMBINE!!" until everyone looks at it, lol! Thank you! Liz

I need to do a post detailing how I made this cake, because I have received quite a few requests. Hopefully I will get around to that someday, but if you are wanting instructions, just post a comment with your email address, and I will send you some information.

The cakes all look so awesome! I took a cake decorating class a few years ago, and now my fiance thinks we should have a combine as our wedding cake in July... the course didn't teach us how to do that.. would you please email me at klein_kelli4@hotmail.com.
Thanks! Can't wait to see how it all works.

Wherewhere did u find the front part ?

Lora said...

The front part, the corn head, came from a toy combine. It is the 1/32 size. If we hadn't already owned that though, I would cut it out of cardboard and paint it green.

Love this! Would you mind sending me directions? Thank you!
