Raspberry Picking

Last Thursday I had a treasure of a day. I'm not sure I can adequately describe the peace of it. We went to an orchard and picked raspberries. My mom came along, and brought one of the kids' cousins.

The kids got right down to business picking berries.

I told him he was allowed to eat as many as he wanted, but
he must have been nervous about it, because he kept shakily
announcing, "I keep eating everything I put in my bucket!"

She was an expert picker. She preferred saying, "Holdie mama!" though.

This guy was a pretty talented picker too.

We had perfect weather. Breezy, warm, sunny, blue.

We took a break to eat snacks by the pond.

I love my mama.

We went out to lunch, and I snapped this picture which I think is just hilarious:

After lunch we went back to picking berries. The kids ran around and played, and mom and I talked across the rows. I felt very much like a pioneer, which appeals to me. It was so peaceful talking and searching for berries.

The kids played on the playground, and enjoyed apple cider slushies.

We spent a total of 6 hours there, picking and playing and chatting. I brought home 7 pounds of raspberries, and it only cost me $14.

Feetie Pajamas!

Both my kids love feetie pajamas. Bee, at close to 7 years old, barely fits into his size 5 jammies. He stretches out the feet, and shoves himself in there, especially when he sees his sister in hers.

He told me yesterday he wants to get a haircut!
We'll see if he still wants to in a few days.

This picture makes me want to have 1000 babies.
Oh wait. I always want to have 1000 babies.

He said, "Let me kiss your cheek." and he did.
Then he gave it a love chomp, like he sees me do all the time.

The Perils of Being Batman

Superman chased batman around and around the house, until Batman made a leap. An unfortunate leap. He stuck himself right into the wall.

Bee thought it was hilarious. He looks bored in this picture
because he was tired of waiting on me to get it to focus.

"Quick! Someone find Robin and a length of rope!"

Now That's A Blueberry Pancake

I made blueberry pancakes for dinner. The ones I made were each about 5 inches across, with maybe 10 blueberries. I cooked half the batch, and sat down to eat. My husband, being quite sweet, decided to finish making them for me.

I walked into the kitchen and saw this.

Awesome pancake! Over 70 blueberries!

Pie Night

I am not a person who enjoys cooking every day. I do like to bake treats and cakes, but the day-in day-out cooking wears on me. In my ideal world, I would cook 2 big, wonderful meals a week. Yeah, not happening. But yesterday I felt inspired, and we had pie night.

There were pizza pies.

Mmmm, broccoli

There were dessert pies.

One sugar cream, and one coconut cream

I'm pretty proud of that edge. (Pie is not my strong suit.)

There were cutie pies.

Where's my pie?

The best part about cooking a lot of pies is the leftovers. I can't wait for lunch!

Pillow Fight!

KT and I met when our bellies were round with babies inside. Right now she's having a tough time because her mama is ill. Her daughter came over tonight, this strong, beautiful girl I've known her whole life. The kids had a really great time, and I'm posting the pictures so KT can see them while she sits at the hospital. Also, they're just really fun pictures.

I love these children.

A Time For Us

We did a date night babysitting swap with some friends. Last weekend we watched their daughter, and Saturday night they watched our kids.

Before we left

He is so cute. We felt giddy in the car, with the freedom not to censor
our conversation because of young ears.

The empty car seats in the back were kind of odd.

I love movie cuddle time!
(We have very different skin colors, it seems.)

Dessert! At the restaurant, the host told us there would be a 15 minute wait,
and wondered if that was okay. Waiting for 15 minutes is easy when all you
have to do is wait, rather than also entertaining young children.

I had so much fun. I love him. It's as simple and as huge and as wonderful as that.
